Daisy Jones and The Six

Here is a recipe – Fleetwood Mac inspired storyline, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter starring and singing, lead singer of Mumford & Sons co-writing songs and Reece Witherspoon a producer……..have I got your attention yet? This TV miniseries has quietly been gathering fans around the world and definitely a must watch if you like your music.

The show is based on the best selling book Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The book was reportedly inspired by a live performance by Stevie Nicks and John McVie of iconic song Dreams. The background and ensemble is enough for any music lover to give this a try and you wont be disappointed.

Daisy Jones and The Six
It’s all the drama of what we have read and expect from a 1970s rock band in formation – alcohol, drugs, sex and Rock’n’roll. Except this is done is such a clever way you want them to be successful. No YouTube, no social media and no smartphones to record every moment. They are not overnight stars but their persistence and love of music generates timeless music and here is a story that emulates the era.

The music is catchy and A Star Is Born fans will warm to this genre music style. The band would have done a great job with a cover of Silver Springs (Fleetwood Mac fans will understand this) that the songs have some contributors including the legendary Jackson Browne. Those that remember the 70s will draw comparisons with shows like The Partridge Family and the Monkees in terms of a ‘fake’ band that is likely to introduce this band to the charts.

You cant help but draw comparisons with the rebellious Daisy Jones with Stevie Nicks (yes, I’m a massive Mac fan) and her relationship with Billy Dunne, played by Sam Claflin, has every much of the relationship we have read about with Buckingham Nicks. Claflin mentioned in an interview that his character modeled on Bruce Springsteen but Boss fans (like me) will disagree strongly. The late Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, Rile Keogh, and Claflin sing well together like “peas and carrots” that Spotify will be the winner from the pairing.

It’s worth a watch.
